Year 11 Food

Overview

Term 

What are we learning 

 

1 

NEA 1 – Introduction to the project and Research  

Students will be introduced to their first piece of coursework which is a food science based task. In the first term they will complete the research and hypothesis part of the task.  

2 

NEA 1 – Experimental work  

During this term, students will be putting into place the research that they completed in term 1. Students will be completing food experiments and testing out various ingredients and what happens to them during the cooking process.  

3 

NEA 1 finishing off and NEA 2 start - Introduction to the project and research 

In this term, students will be completing the evaluation work to their first piece of coursework and they will be beginning their second piece. They will be required to create a three course meal at the end of it so they will be carrying out any necessary research. 

4 

NEA 2 – skills test and three course meal 

Throughout this term, students will be completing the practical sections of their coursework. They will complete 4 skill test dishes and this will be followed by creating a three course meal.  

5 

NEA 2 – final evaluation and revision  

During the term, students will be finishing off their NEA 2 by evaluating their practical work ready for it to be submitted for final marking. Students will then have a complete focus on revision material to prepare them for their final written exam.  

6 

Revision  

Students will be spending their final term in food revising and preparing for their upcoming external exam.
