How to Apply to Swindon Academy

Swindon Academy is free to attend, with places open to students of all abilities. We are allocated students by Swindon Borough Council.  If you wish to apply for a place at Swindon Academy please go to the Swindon Borough Council website where you can apply to transfer between schools during the academic year, or apply for a Primary or Secondary school place each new academic year. Any queries about the process, should be directed to Swindon Borough Council, School Admissions Team, Swindon Borough Council, Wat Tyler House, Swindon, SN1 2JH. Email: schooladmissions@swindon.gov.uk Tel: 01793 445500.

Regarding Swindon Academy admissions, please do not hesitate to contact Trish, Admissions Officer on 01793 426939, or email trish.grimes@swindon-academy.org who can provide more information about applying and induction. Swindon Academy's admissions policies can be downloaded here:

In Year-Admissions

Throughout the year we admit students into the Academy via Swindon Borough Council's In-Year Admissions process.  If you would like to apply to move your child here, follow the instructions above.  In order for us to process new students and put them on roll we require parent/carers to complete an In-Year Admissions Form (with essential contact information) and a Permissions Form (e.g. for trips, photography etc).  The Admissions Officer will send you the relevant links to complete these online, once your child has been allocated a place here.

Nursery

Please complete both the Nursery Application Form  and Permissions Form below, and we will get in touch. NOTE THAT IF YOUR CHILD IS AT OUR NURSERY, YOU MUST STILL APPLY FOR A PRIMARY SCHOOL PLACE, SEE BELOW

Primary

For Primary School Reception through to Year 6, there are 2 separate school sites, Beech Avenue and Alton Close.  When applying please state your preferred site, however we cannot guarantee which site you will be allocated as this is subject to strict admissions criteria and spaces being available at the site. It would be helpful for us if you could kindly complete the Supplementary Information Form and return to Admissions: trish.grimes@swindon-academy.org.

Go to the Swindon Borough Council website to apply.

At Swindon Academy all our Year 6 students are entitled to receive a place in Year 7, so although you need not apply though Swindon Borough Council, you do need to let us know that you wish them to continue their education with us. We will contact with you about this while they are in Year 6.

Secondary

For your child to join Year 7 at the start of the academic year in September, applications need to be made by the end of October the previous year, through Swindon Borough Council. Swindon Academy run a Grammar Stream within the Secondary phase. In order for your child to be eligible to join they MUST already have a place at the school in Year 7. You can find out more on Grammar Stream on separate webpages.

If you're moving mid-year, please go to the Swindon Borough Council website where you can apply for an "In-year" transfer between schools during the academic year.

United College Sixth Form

Choosing the right Sixth Form could be a crucial step in setting up your child’s successful future. United College Sixth Form, based at Swindon Academy’s Beech Avenue site, attracts more than a third of its students from other schools in the area, and continues to build on its reputation for academic achievement. Key to our performance is how we coach young people through to their next stage in life, be it higher education, or the start of their career. They directly benefit from our external relationships with industry and Marlborough College, and the vast majority of our Sixth Form leavers get a place at their preferred university.

United College Sixth Form offers a wide range of highly regarded vocational and academic courses, including subjects as diverse as English Literature or Criminology; Food Science and Nutrition; Dance or Sport. Students who are looking to advance into STEM based careers (Maths, Technology, Sciences and Engineering) may be suited to our Sixth Form STEM Grammar Stream. To Apply, please follow the link below:
