Secondary Uniform

The wearing of Academy uniform is compulsory for all pupils and a high standard of dress is required at all times. We consider that uniform is important because:

  • It provides students with a sense of identity and pride in their academy.
  • It enhances the appearance of students and therefore the reputation of the academy.
  • It helps to instil in students a sense of purpose when they put on their uniform in the mornings.

We expect students to arrive each day with the correct equipment so they are ready to start work. A 30 minute detention may be issued to students who do not meet these requirements.

Uniform in Warm Weather

Full uniformwhen temperatures are forecast to be below 230 students are expected to wear full uniform. On these days students should wear school trousers/skirt, school shoes, shirt, tie and blazer. They may choose to wear their jumpers under their blazers as an extra layer, but this is optional.

No blazer and tiewhen temperatures are forecast to be between 23-250 we will call a no blazer and tie day.  On these days students should wear their normal trousers/skirts, school shoes, and school shirt. No jumpers should be worn as these are intended to form a layer for colder months under blazers. Should students wish to have their arms covered then they can wear a long-sleeved school shirt or their blazers as normal.

Sports kit- when temperatures are forecast to be over 250 we will call a sports kit day. These days students should wear their Academy-branded PE top, plain navy-blue shorts (no sports branding/logos) and PE trainers. Should students not want to wear shorts they should continue to wear their school uniform as if it were a no blazer and tie day.

We will use the BBC weather app daily and send an e-praise message at the end of the school with the expectations for the following day if we intend to call a No blazer and tie day or Sports kit day.
