The Beech Way

At Beech Avenue we have four core beliefs which underpin everything we do:

We see Knowledge as power

Knowledge gives us freedom to make well-informed, sensible and respectful decisions. Knowledge helps us to learn about ourselves, and about others. It empowers us to understand the world around us and to think beyond our individual experiences.

We value staff learning as much as pupil learning. Therefore, we are relentless in our approach to providing professional development so that our pupils benefit from the very best teaching and learning in every classroom.

We believe teamwork makes the dreamwork

Working collaboratively towards shared goals helps us to achieve success: together we are stronger. Having connection with our pupils builds a community built on trust and support to allow our pupils to solve problems, deal with emotions and manage conflict. Through teamwork, we build a strong network between staff, pupils, families and our wider school community. Teamwork increases personal growth and positive well-being.

We bring our best selves to school every day

When we bring our best selves to work every day, our pupils are supported by adults always doing the best for them. When we are positive role models for our pupils, we show them how to make good choices and take sensible action.  Shared high expectations leads to consistency and means that we can hold each other to account. As a result, pupils get the same message from every adult, allowing them to feel safe and loved.

‘Every child deserves a champion - an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the connection and insists that they become the best they can possible be.’
Rita Pierson

We strive to achieve excellence

Clear and explicit expectations create the safety, order and calmness needed for pupils to reach their true potential. We believe that learning should never be impacted by poor behaviour choices. Staff are not afraid to hold pupils to account for their behaviour so that they can be the best versions of themselves.

Our Vision

Underpinning our core beliefs is a shared vision: Swindon Academy ensures that every pupil can flourish academically and personally in an aspirational and supportive environment

Culture

At Beech Avenue, we believe that when adults work together we promote better outcomes for pupils. We are all more likely to succeed if we have the support of a team behind us. At Beech Avenue, we embrace difference and build unity. We welcome children into our school family as caring, contributing members. We teach our pupils that their actions can impact other members of our school family. Each class family holds its pupils to account and children are encouraged to take responsibility and taught that together is stronger.

We believe family provides  connection, security and a sense of belonging. For our pupils, school is somewhere to feel safe and cared for.  We refer to our school as the, 'Beech Avenue Family'. We work hard to support each other as a staff body. As adults, we model great teamwork every day so that pupils see us working together. We believe the focus on teamwork will help our pupils to gain a sense of belonging to our school family. We want out pupils to feel safe and loved.

It doesn’t matter that I do it. It matters that we all do it.
