How to Apply for a Place in Reception

You can apply for a primary school place starting September 2024 for a child born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020. Applications are open on Swindon Borough Council's website from 1 September until 15 January. You should indicate your preference of school site (Alton Close or Beech Avenue), however your choice is not guaranteed if one site is oversubscribed. NB: all pupils are eligible to join Swindon Academy at Year 7, whichever site they are based at Primary.

We encourage parents to sign up for their child’s Reception place before the deadline of 15^th January. If you don't submit an application by the deadline, Swindon Borough Council will allocate your child a place at a school that has availability. Guidelines for Applying Online

You need to set up an online account and register your email address for this process.
Regardless of whether you are applying for a place at Alton Close or Beech Avenue, Swindon Borough Council uses the Beech Avenue address because this is the HQ for Swindon Academy. Please select Swindon Academy as your first choice in order to have a better chance of getting a place offer.
You will be able to specify if there is a sibling already at Swindon Academy, and you can include more "Reasons for your school choice". Generally, your place offer will be determined by how close you live to Swindon Academy. We cannot guarantee that spaces will be available at your choice of site.
