How to Apply for a Reception Place

Parents of children who will be aged four in September 2021 have until 15th January 2021 to apply for their Reception place in a primary school.  Parents should therefore be considering which primary school they would like to send their child to.

Once parents have made up their mind, they will need to complete the online process with Swindon Borough Council to apply for a Reception place at:

Failure to submit an application will mean that Swindon Borough Council will allocate your child a place at a school that has places in Swindon and it is likely that their chosen school will be full.  We encourage parents to sign up for their child’s reception place before the deadline: 15th January 2021.

Guidelines for applying online

  1. At the link above you will need to set up an online account and register your email address for this process.
  2. Regardless of whether you are applying for a place at Alton Close or Beech Avenue, the portal that Swindon Borough Council uses says it is Beech Avenue.  Please don't worry if you want a place at Alton Close - we will allocate places based on home address.  If there is a space for comments in the application you can specify there that you want Alton Close or Beech Avenue, although we cannot guarantee that spaces will be available at your choice of site.
  3. To help you complete a school place application, we have completed the following step-by-step instructions, that you can access here.
