What are we learning?

Day of the Dead – Grid method and Drawing

Year 8 start their creative journey, learning about the Mexican Day of the Dead. We begin by advancing on the drawing techniques that we learn at the end of year 7. Students learn how to use the grid method to develop their proportions and we have a greater focus on development of realistic drawing methods such as tonal shading.

Day of the Dead – Dip pen and ink – Mark making

Students develop their drawing skills in term two through the use of mark making and learning to draw with a dip pen and ink. This technique allows students to explore drawing in a gestural and expressive way.
