Applying for a Place at Swindon Academy

New Students

For students from outside of Swindon Academy, admission into Swindon Academy is coordinated by Swindon Borough Council.  Parents will need to make an online application on the Swindon Borough Council’s admissions portal at:

Parents will need to select 3 schools.  If Swindon Academy is your first choice of school for your son/daughter, you must put the school as first choice.  Failure to do so could mean that you are allocated your second choice and the year group is filled before you can change it.  Please review the information above to help you decide.

For entry into Year 7 in September 2021, parents can begin submitting their applications online from 1st September 2020 and must have submitted the application by 31st October 2020 AT THE LATEST. Failure to submit your application before this date can mean that a place will not be available.

PLEASE NOTE: if parents are interested in the Grammar Stream, they will also need to register their interest in the Grammar Stream at: and please place a comment in the online application that it is Grammar Stream that you are interested in.  (Parents must accept a place at Swindon Academy for their son/daughter to enable them to sit the Entrance Exam for Grammar Stream, please see here for details.)

Current Swindon Academy Students

Current Swindon Academy Year 6 students need to complete the online form here to confirm if they will be accepting their allocated Year 7 place.  (Please note: this applies ONLY to exisiting students, NOT students who are currently at other primary schools.)

What happens next?

On Monday 1st March 2021, parents will be notified which school their son/daughter has been allocated to.  If parents are happy with the school their child has been allocated to, they must accept the place NO LATER than Monday 15th March 2021.
