This qualification provides students with a wealth of knowledge about the food and nutrition industry. Students have the opportunity to learn about the relationship between the human body and food as well as practical skills for cooking and preparing food.
Having gained this qualification, students are able to consider employment in a range of different industries including the food and drink sectors of hospitality, catering, food production and food retail.
Students complete coursework units that are mostly theory based, with some practical aspects included within each coursework unit. These will include researching nutritional values, recipes and carrying out food experiments within these.
The course requires students to be able to work independently, be confident in researching and looking at information they have not discovered before. Students also need to be able to work as a team in completing practical tasks and supporting each other in the new information that they are creating.
