The subject of chemistry explores the fundamental building blocks of the world around us. It is an essential subject for careers in medicine, veterinary and dentistry. Students’ practical skills are also assessed as part of this qualification. Students will carry out a minimum of 12 practical activities.
The A Level Chemistry course consists of three units (Physical, Inorganic and Organic). Topics are taught in the contexts of healthcare, engineering, economics, the environment and domestic chemistry.
Practical skills are assessed in each of the three exams, and a Practical Skills Endorsement is given with the final grade to students who successfully complete all required practical elements.
