Sixth form students not only benefit from studying in a modern purpose-built building that has a dedicated dance studio, recording studio, Mac suites, an Olympic standard sports hall and a wide range of specialists classrooms, they also enjoy the exclusive use of a large, bespoke UCSF centre that is designed to include a range of different study spaces, as shown in the diagram below.
The UCSF centre provides students with a quiet study room for completing work in school time, a large common room for socialising, eating, making drinks and work, a dedicated IT suite and all with the sixth form staff immediately on hand to provide support and guidance.
At UCSF we expect students to remain on site for 30 periods a week. Students are timetabled up to 4 lessons per week (in department areas) for every subject they choose plus 2 lessons per week per subject timetabled in Silent Study. This area is supervised by one of the Study Supervisors and it is intended that students use this time to carryout pre-reading for each of their subjects. Students attend PSHE for 1 lesson per week and engage in a compulsory enrichment programme for two lessons per week. For the remaining time, students may choose to carry out their prep work in either the Personal or Group Study spaces.
