Sixth Form Academic Results 2019
Students at United College Sixth Form are celebrating after receiving their post-16 results and university offers.
Students at UCSF are celebrating today after receiving their A Level and vocational results, as well as some excellent university places.
Across the school’s Sixth Form, there was an increase in the number of top grades being achieved at A Level. 26% of entries achieved A* to B grades, a significant increase on last year’s results of 7%. This means that more students achieved the grades they needed to take up their university offers.
Results were also strong for vocational courses, with 62% of entries achieving the highest possible grades of Distinction or Distinction*. In particular, Swindon Academy’s Cheltenham Town FC students performed very well, with many achieving the top grades of Distinction* and Distinction in the Sport Extended Diploma.
Many of the Sixth Formers will be the first generation in their families to go onto university, with 61% of them this year successfully achieving their first choice places.
Among the individual student successes were:
- Jack, who achieved Distinction*BC and is taking up a place at Swansea University to study Chemical Engineering;
- Maisie, who achieved AAD and is going to the University of South Wales to study Film;
- Ryan, who achieved BBB and is going to read Astrophysics at the University of Bath.
Ruth Robinson, Executive Principal of Swindon Academy, said:
"Our Sixth Formers can take great pride in their achievements today, as a fitting reward for their hard work, ambition and determination over many years of study. It is particularly pleasing that students have not only achieved more of the top A Level grades than last year, but that this has enabled so many of them to secure the university places of their choice.
“Importantly, this sort of success in the Sixth Form cascades down throughout our school, inspiring our younger students to strive to achieve just as highly. We look forward to building on these achievements as we welcome a new cohort this September and continue to take the Sixth Form from strength to strength."
