With an A Level in Photography, students could go to university to study photography. 

The course consists of a personal portfolio unit with an exam unit.  It is assessed internally and verified by the exam board.

Candidates produce a broad range of experimental, practical and critical/contextual work in one or more areas including analogue photography and darkroom experimentation, portraiture, landscape photography, still-life photography, documentary photography, photo-journalism and experimental imagery. Students will become proficient in industry standard photo editing software. 

Unit 1 is worth 60% of the qualification mark and consists of a portfolio of work. Students can choose from a selection of titles to research, explore, develop and produce outcomes.  Unit 2 is worth 40% of the qualification. It involves a preparatory period followed by a supervised 10-hour exam period in which to produce outcomes.
