This course examines a number of different drama styles, practitioners and techniques and will focus on a range of related units. During these units, students are responsible for researching, exploring, planning, performing and evaluating work and are involved in doing some community productions as well as individual and group performances.  

Following this course, students can continue studying at university to extend learning with drama, performing arts, musical theatre and theatre production degrees.  Students can use the skills they use on this course to gain employment that requires confidence and public speaking skills, acting, performance and directing careers. This is a great course for leadership skill development and independent work.

This course consists of 8 units over 2 years, 3 of which is externally assessed.  The programme is assessed through assignments in the form of projects, research, lesson work, evaluations, performances and presentations.  

This qualification allows students to acquire substantial cross-sector knowledge of drama and creates opportunities for work with visiting professionals.  Students will also carry out group and individual tasks researching key drama practitioners.

NB: Shorter courses are available. Diploma in Performing Arts (equivalent to 2 A Levels).
