Sixth Form Facilities
Sixth Form students enjoy a range of superb facilities for their exclusive use.
Sixth Form Study Centre
Students work in the Sixth Form Study Centre during study periods, where they have access to PCs, library and careers resources, individual study pods and a group workroom where they can complete work in peaceful conditions.
Sixth Form Common Room
They also enjoy the exclusive use of a large, light, secure and recently refurbished common room where they can meet, discuss work, make a drink or eat lunch, and spend time together. Close to hand is the office of the Sixth Form Student Support Team so there is always someone available to advise and support students.

Engineering Rooms
We have two purpose built engineering rooms, which provide the physical and create space for students to design and create their engineering projects. With the guidance of expert staff members, students have access to a wide range of state-of-the art machinery to bring their engineering projects to life.
Drama Studio
We provide a purpose built drama studio, with a large and well equipped props and wardrobe area, adjacent to the main hall. This enables students to practice in the space in which they will perform, delivering quality productions to audiences of up to 240 in the tiered seating area. Equipped with a wide range of lighting and sound options, students can also practise using their technical skills on productions and assessments.
Dance Studio
Our purpose built dance studio has proved to be an extremely popular area of the school. Students use it to practise their routines at lunchtimes and it is utilised every night after school for dance classes.
Art Rooms
The art rooms are magnificent spaces, perfectly designed for their purpose. Natural daylight floods into the rooms, both from external windows and from 'the street', making them perfect for drawing and painting. We also have a dark room, throwing wheels, a kiln, a textile room and individual sixth form art studio spaces.
Science Facilities
We have an excellent range of science facilities, which are located on the ground floor of 'the street'. We have a virtual lab and five further laboratories for practical lessons. The science labs are designed so they all benefit from natural light.
Technology and Music Suite and Recording Studio
We are really fortunate to have a fully-equipped music suite in our Performing Arts department. Keyboards are connected to Apple Mac computers enabling students to digitally compose and record their music.
Students also make full use of the recording studio, both as part of their studies and as part of their personal hobbies. The musics department is a popular and well-utilized area of the school that welcomes budding artists.
Sports Hall and Area
We are able to boast that we have an international standard sports hall at Swindon Academy. In fact, the whole sports area is designed and built to international standard, having its own reception for use by the community for sporting events.
The changing and shower rooms are specially designed and located in the centre of the sports facilities. The whole area has easy access to the all-weather pitch, tennis and netball courts and the sports field. We are also pleased to be able to offer students use of our top of the range fitness suite, which boasts both cardio-vascular and resistance machines.
