Year 11 Students at Swindon Academy Celebrate GCSE Success

This morning, students at Swindon Academy are celebrating as they open their long-awaited GCSE results.  This year, over 70% of students have achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths with over a fifth achieving the top grades of 7 or above in these core subjects.

 

Students celebrating today include:

 

• Harry E, who achieved 9s and 8s across English, Maths, Science, History and Music. He is going to UCSF at Swindon Academy to study English and Music and aspires for a career in either Journalism or Music.
• Sophie C, who achieved a L2 Distinction*, a 9, 8s and a 7 across English, Maths, Science, Health & Social Care, and Spanish. She is going to Marlborough College to study English, Psychology and Politics. She aims for a career in Law.
• Arnav P, who achieved 9s, 8s and a 7 across English, Maths, Science, Geography and Spanish.
• Jasmine G, who achieved a L2 Distinction*, 9s, an 8, a 7 and a 6 across English, Maths, Science, Geography and Spanish. She is going to Cirencester College to study Biology, Chemistry and Maths and hopes to become a Chemical Engineer.
• Ricardo M T, who achieved 9s and 8s across English, Maths, Science, Geography and Spanish. He is going to Cirencester College to study T Level Engineering and aspires to do Motor Engineering for F1.
• Raguel S, who achieved 9s and 8s across English, Maths, Science, Geography and Spanish. He is going to Cirencester College to study Medicine, Biology, Chemistry and Maths. He plans to become a Doctor.

 

A lot of students were grateful to their teachers for the support they received. Harry said:

 

“My teachers helped me get these results by giving me really great resources.”

 

Ricardo added:

 

“The intervention sessions at school really helped me get my results.”

 

With a similar comment, Jasmine said:

 

“My teachers always motivated me to improve and get the best results I could.”

 

Parents were also credited for their support, with Raguel saying:

 

“My parents were really encouraging and helped me study to get these results.”

 

Commenting on the results, Karen Wright, Principal at Swindon Academy, said:

 

“Congratulations to all our students collecting their results today.  They have worked hard and shown real commitment to their studies and should be proud of their achievements.  

 

“I am looking forward to welcoming many of our students to our flourishing Sixth Form in September.  I know they will continue to grasp every opportunity open to them and will make an important contribution to our academy community.
