Sixth Form Overview
Our Sixth Form is the pinnacle of the students’ experience at the academy. We believe our curriculum matches students’ aspirations, long-term goals and interests.
In May 2017, Ofsted judged our academy as ‘Good’ in all areas. Stating that in 16-19 study programmes:
‘The academic curriculum is broad and varied and complemented by the personal, social, health and economic education that provides students with a wider understanding of the world in the 21st century’.
Students who join our sixth form have access to a wide range of academic and Applied General courses which are supported by all the resources you will need to develop as a happy, educated and confident person and enabling you to become an independent learner. You will leave us equipped with effective study, revision and exam strategies that establish a strong work ethos, benefiting you in the years after sixth form.
Here at United College Sixth Form we work with you to ensure that your choices align with your career aspirations and we support you, both personally and academically, to be the best you can be.
The Sixth Form centre is dedicated for Sixth Form use. Within the centre, Sixth Formers have their own library, study rooms and ICT facilities. There is also a spacious common room area for the students to meet, work together and relax.
In addition to A Level and Applied General courses, Sixth Form students are encouraged to play a significant role in the life of the academy. You can participate in, and lead, a wide range of activities as mentors or as Head Boy and Head Girl. For students, these opportunities support the development of leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills which universities and employers tell us they are looking for in their future students and employees.
Students benefit greatly from our strong partnership with Marlborough College. In previous years, Sixth Form students have attended additional study sessions, received support in applying to university, shadowed lessons and been on joint educational visits with the students of Marlborough College.
