Sixth Form Overview

Our Sixth Form is the pinnacle of the students’ experience at the academy.  We believe our curriculum matches students’ aspirations, long-term goals and interests.

In May 2017, Ofsted judged our academy as ‘Good’ in all areas.  Stating that in 16-19 study programmes:

‘The academic curriculum is broad and varied and complemented by the personal, social, health and economic education that provides students with a wider understanding of the world in the 21st century’.

In addition to academic and Applied General courses, Sixth Form students are encouraged to play a significant role in the life of the academy.  They participate in, and lead, a wide range of activities as mentors or as Head Boy and Head Girl.  For students, these opportunities support the development of leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills which universities and employers tell us they are looking for in their future students and employees.

The Sixth Form centre is dedicated for Sixth Form use.  Within the centre, Sixth Formers have their own library, study rooms and ICT facilities. There is also a spacious common room area for the students to meet, work together and relax.

Students benefit greatly from our strong partnership with Marlborough College.  In previous years, Sixth Form students have attended additional study sessions, received support in applying to university, shadowed lessons and been on joint educational visits with the students of Marlborough College.

Our Sports Academy Scholarship programme is foundered on unique partnerships set up with a number of professional sports associations.  Working with these associations we are able to offer a virtual Sixth Form.  Scholars on the Sports Academy programme follow a level 3 educational pathway that is designed to help them progress onto university or equip them fully for employment within the sports and active leisure sector.
