On Wednesday 11th June, Swindon Academy hosted a Summer Music Festival. Year 4 pupils from Gorse Hill and Seven Fields Junior Schools joined pupils from Alton Close and Beech Avenue to rehearse and perform the songs they had prepared over recent weeks.
An action packed day included workshops in drama and art, led by secondary teachers. In addition, every school had their own technical rehearsal with professional sound and lighting.
After a special lunch in the canteen, pupils performed two concerts for parents, supported by musicians from the secondary phase of the academy. There were some superb performances culminating in a fabulous rendition of I Love to Play My Ukulele. Mrs Robinson, Principal, said, “It was wonderful to see year 4 pupils performing with such confidence. They were a credit to their schools, and we look forward to welcoming them back to the academy for new and exciting projects when they are in year 5.”
