At Swindon Academy, we understand that the transition from Year 6 into Year 7 can be a worrying time for parents and pupils. On this basis, we try to create opportunities for year 6 pupils to come into the academy for events during Years 4, 5 and 6 so that they start to build their confidence in a secondary school environment.
In addition, Swindon Academy welcomes parents and pupils to visit us, meet staff and have a tour of our superb facilities. We are delighted to show parents and pupils around the academy, during the day, so that they can experience the academy during lesson times and feel comfortable with the impending transition.
Some pupils can worry about starting secondary school over the summer holidays, therefore we invite our Year 7 pupils to spend a day with us in the summer term. this year, the Year 6 into Year 7 Transition Day is being held on Wednesday 1st July 2020. Attendance at this day enables pupils to meet their tutor, class mates and some of their teachers, as well as find out how lunchtime works, so they can relax over the summer holiday and feel more confident for September.
