ULT Business and Enterprise Challenge
The third ULT Business and Enterprise Challenge took place at Lambeth Academy on 25th November.
There were 11 Academies represented at the event which was a challenge aimed at year 9 students. Students worked in groups of four to produce Lego models of helicopters and tractors.
Students were required to make and sell these products to businesses; the business people were the members of Academy staff who accompanied the students.
There were a variety of obstacles put in the way of the challenge. They had to cope with the demands of the rent collector; impromptu collections of council tax and demands for extra equipment!
Students were required to email businesses for advice; loans and to offer items for sale. Everything was timed and students had to learn to work together to meet deadlines; negotiate; market; improve presentation skills and sales techniques.
The Swindon Academy team comprised of Grishma Ramesh; Ricky Whitefield; Leanne Hendon and Danielle Mundy. They worked very well and charmed potential buyers. They are a credit to themselves and the school.
