Prepare for Work Days
Swindon Academy in conjunction with Honda run very successful Preparation for Work Days aimed at Year 11 students. Honda associates come into school to run a two hour workshop relating to the application form process.
Students are taken through the STAR approach (Situation, Task, Action and Result) as this is beneficial when completing certain elements of the application form. Students are given an understanding of what an application form is for and are given tips on interview techniques in preparation for their visit to Honda UK Manufacturing plant at South Marston.
Students are taken in groups of 40 - 50 for a day at the Honda plant. During this time students are split into thirty groups and cover the following:
- A one-to-one interview based on their application form - they receive verbal feedback on the day.
- Students complete two aptitude tests in literacy and numeracy, so that they can experience different types of test used in selection processes.
- Tours of the car plant so that they can appreciate what a working environment is like and how the associates have to work to a deadline for the car production.
