DAIT - Design Technolgy and ICT
Over the past term students within DAIT (Design and Information Technology) have been very busy. In years seven to nine students do a rotation system and have undertaken activities as diverse as building an electronics game housed in a wooden box; designing and making a backpack and even analysing the nutritional value (or otherwise!) of a Pot Noodle!
ICT have been busy introducing the BTEC in both years nine and ten. The first assessed work has now gone off to the exam board and we have received a good response back, well done to all students and staff concerned. GCSE students have been busy preparing to hand in their final projects for assessment, with one eye on the exams next term. Business Studies is also now offered by the faculty and early indications are that grades will be good next year.
Mrs Turner has been running a sewing club on Thursday lunctimes which as been very popular with all year students attending. One of the projects they have been working on is 'blankets for the homeless' a charity suggested by one of the students.
Planning is now underway to offer new and exciting courses for next year, including a Carpentry course for year 12 and the introduction of the Engineering Diploma for year 10 students - watch this space!
