Sport and Health Education - PE and PSHE

Welcome to the Curriculum Area of Sport and Health Education!

Sport and Health Education is made up of the areas of Physical Education and PSHE to create an exciting and innovative faculty. Students are given the opportunity to participate in traditional sports and experience ‘alternative sports’ alongside theoretical lessons in personal health and well-being.  All students are encouraged to participate in inter-house competitions and attend extra-curricular clubs and activities and as a faculty we run a number of school teams and have regular matches against other local schools.

At KS4 students have the opportunity to gain at least one qualification in Physical Education, ranging from GCSE PE, BTEC Sport and Leadership and Coaching.

In both PSHE and PE students are encouraged and learn to develop self-confidence and self-esteem.  Students also learn how to make the correct choices about difficult situation and develop coping strategies to help them handle everyday occurrences.

Facilities:

The Sport and Health department benefit from a number of excellent facilities within the school that help deliver the curriculum including: an International standard sports hall, a primary and secondary MUGA and a fitness suite equipped with new techno gym machines.

We have an AstroTurf pitch which is regularly used for lessons and after school clubs.  Our fields are currenlty under development and will hopefully be completed ready for use after the October half term.
