Swindon Academy and Swindon Wildcats Partnership

Swindon Academy is proud to announce the formation of an exciting partnership with Swindon Wildcats.

The partnership, which is funded by the Big Lottery, is designed to bring members of the community together to learn to play and enjoy street hockey, meet new people and experience a new way of keeping fit.

In addition, the partnership will allow members of Swindon Academy’s community the opportunity to watch two Swindon Wildcats Ice Hockey matches as a family for free.  Transport to and from the games is also provided for free as are the street hockey sessions themselves.  There is also an opportunity for some adult players to gain coaching qualifications at the same time.

The official launch of the partnership took place on Saturday 22nd January, prior to the Wildcats v Sheffield game, when Swindon Academy’s choir took to the ice and sung the national anthem before the match began.  This is the first fixture which community members have been invited to apply for free tickets.

Anyone wishing to join the Street Hockey sessions are welcome to come along and join in!  The sessions will take place at the Beech Avenue and Alton Close sites of Swindon Academy on Thursdays starting from Thursday 3rd February at 5.00pm.  There is no charge for these sessions.  Please bring a friend, come along and have fun!
