@Futsal Scholarship Programme

Internal Filler

Swindon Academy have entered into a unique partnership with @Futsal who are endorsed by the FA in England and Wales to deliver a ground breaking scholarship programme for elite level footballers in Swindon, Cardiff and Birmingham.

@Futsal will be developing 30 state of the art arenas in some of the major towns across the country. Swindon Academy will provide a “virtual sixth form” environment to underpin the elite player development with a first class education in all of these arenas nationwide.

Players will have the opportunity to trial early in the new year for a place on the 2 year programme. As well as daily elite player development, players will participate in the National Futsal Youth league. They will also be required to complete coaching and refereeing qualifications in Futsal, refining these new skills by leading on coaching in the community projects.

Players will follow level 3 educational pathway that is designed to deliver students at 18 years old into university or equip them fully for employment within the sports and active leisure sector.  Players will be closely monitored by former England Futsal team manager Graeme Dell, with top performing players being chosen to go on and represent the national team at U17 and U18 level. With Futsal being a potential pilot sport at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil, it is hoped that the scholars on the programme will provide the core of the team representing Great Britain in seven years time.
