Safeguarding Policy

Swindon Academy takes seriously its responsibility to protect and safeguard the welfare of the children and young people in its care. The welfare of the child is paramount and comes first in all of our work. Working Together to Safeguard Children March 2015 (page 5) defines this as:

  • protecting children from maltreatment
  • preventing impairment of children’s health or development;
  • ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care;
  • taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

All staff are responsible for keeping students safe and the purpose of the Safeguarding Policy is to provide a safe and secure framework for the workforce in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.. We recognise that staff, because of their contact with and knowledge of children or young people in their care, are well places to identify abuse and offer support to children in need.
